Managing Domain Join Account Credentials in PDQ SmartDeploy

Understanding Domain Join Account Password Changes

When using PDQ SmartDeploy for domain joining computers, you need to be aware that the system does not automatically update domain join account credentials. This means that when passwords change for these accounts, you'll need to take manual action to ensure your deployment process continues to work properly.

How Password Changes Affect Your Answer Files

Each time a domain join account password changes, any existing Answer Files containing those credentials will no longer function correctly. This requires manual regeneration of these files with the updated credentials.

Recommended Approaches

Option 1: Regular Answer File Regeneration

Include the regeneration of Answer Files as part of your regular credential maintenance process. Whenever domain account passwords are changed, immediately create new Answer Files with the updated credentials. Remember that you will need to create new deployment media when answer file changes are done.

Option 2: Use a Service Account

Consider using a dedicated service account that is exempt from regular password change requirements. This approach minimizes disruption by reducing the frequency of needed Answer File updates.
