While the Internet Information Services role can be installed on your Reference VM to be included in your image, there is a component of the IIS role that cannot be installed, or it will break Windows Sysprep.
When installing the IIS role, you cannot include the IIS 6 Management Compatibility feature. This specific feature has been tested and proven to break the sysprep process, which will prevent your image from deploying successfully.
