Workstation and Operating System Requirements
For SmartDeploy central server and client workstation requirements, as well as supported virtualization platforms, please see the SmartDeploy Release Notes.
If you plan to build virtual machines for capture on the same central server where SmartDeploy is installed, then we recommend at least 500GB of available disk space, as well as sufficient available CPU and RAM resources to meet the requirements of the Windows version you plan to virtualize.
In order to Capture an Image from a Virtual Disk File, you will need at least as much free space available as the size of the virtual disk that you are trying to capture.
Network Requirements
SmartDeploy requires the following ports to be open in-between the SmartDeploy Console Host and Clients to enable full-feature functionality:
- TCP 443 - HTTPS
- TCP 8080 - SmartDeploy V3 API Service
In addition to the ports listed above, the SmartDeploy Console must also be able to reach the following URLs:
- *.smartdeploy.com
- smartdeploy.azureedge.net
- smartdeployb2c.b2clogin.com
- api.smartdeploy.com
- download.smartdeploy.com
Antivirus Considerations
Various SmartDeploy actions are often incorrectly flagged as malicious by third-party antivirus software. You may need to add specific SmartDeploy components to your antivirus safelist for certain activities to be performed. We also recommend that you avoid installing any third-party antivirus software on your Reference Virtual Machine and instead use an Application Pack to install the software as part of deployment.
SmartDeploy Prerequisites
SmartDeploy automatically downloads and installs the following prerequisites as a part of installation.
You should not generally need to install these yourself, but they are listed here for reference.
- Windows ADK 10.1.26100.2454 (December 2024)
- Windows PE add-on for the Windows ADK (December 2024)
- MongoDB 6.0
- .NET 8.0 Desktop Runtime and ASP.NET Core Runtime
